General
When will I receive my BabyFM Doppler?
Your Doppler will ship out the same day if ordered before 3pm Eastern Time, Monday-Friday. Orders received after 3pm will ship the next business day. Please allow approximately 3-4 business days for delivery.
Two day air delivery is available for an additional $9. Next day delivery is an additional $29. If you wish to have two day or next day delivery, please call 800-939-3926 and speak to a customer care representative.
Is there a minimum rental period?
The minimum rental period is 60 days. After the 60 days, you may return the unit whenever you wish. During this period our exclusive daily rate system only charges you for the actual number of days you rent the Doppler. At BabyFM you will never be charged for a full month’s rental that you haven’t used!
Does the FDA regulate BabyFM Dopplers?
The BabyFM Dopplers are controlled by the FDA. They have been deemed safe for continual use during pregnancy. Always rent or purchase units that are FDA regulated.
How early can I hear fetal heartbeat?
On average, you can hear it within the first 8-10 weeks of your pregnancy. Most BabyFM clients rent their unit at this time and usually keep it until they deliver.
What is a Fetal Doppler?
Dopplers are not microphones used to amplify sound. They use ultrasound technology to create an electronic reproduction of heartbeat that you hear through the monitor’s speakers. Ultrasound technology has been in routine clinical use since 1942. It is used worldwide for routine fetal monitoring.
What is the difference between a 2 MHz probe and a 3 MHz probe?
The main difference is that the higher frequency probe reflects off smaller objects. A 3 MHz probe works better off smaller fetal hearts. Many OB/GYN’s prefer a 3 MHz probe. It seems to pick up heart sounds earlier in pregnancy and also works well later in the pregnancy. A 2 MHz probe may be better when used on a heavier mother. BabyFM units have interchangeable probes. If you are unsure about which on to use, consult with one of our customer service specialists, they will help you determine the right one for you.

Tips on Use
Do I need to use lotions or gels with my BabyFM Doppler?
Your Doppler comes with a small (2.5 oz) tube of Parker ultrasound gel. You can
order more gel by clicking here or calling us at 800-939-3926.
If you will be using the unit on a daily basis, it may be wise to order an additional
tube with your initial rental or purchase. Body lotion may work well with the
unit. Some static may be heard though when using certain lotions.
If my unit does not have a display, how do I calculate the beats per minute?
You can calculate this by counting the number of beats in a ten second period and multiplying this by six.
What if the On/Off LED is flashing on the unit?
If it is flashing about once per second, the battery level is low. You can still perform several monitoring sessions while this is flashing. If the On/Off LED flashes at a higher rate, the battery level is too low for use and must be changed. Simply open the back of the unit and replace the 3 AA batteries in the unit with new ones.
What if the battery icon is flashing?
The battery is low and should be replaced with three AAA alkaline batteries.
What if the unit shuts off while in use?
The unit is designed to automatically turn off after 3 minutes if not in use. Please restart the unit and begin another session. Also, the batteries may be very low and need replacement. We can help you understand how to use every feature of the unit you chose. Our user guides are thorough, but if you need help distinguishing sounds or achieving proper placement of the probe, simply call us or click here for more fetal doppler tips on use.
Is
My Unit Sanitized?
We fully sanitize each fetal doppler unit prior to releasing them for shipping. Be certain that you always rent a unit that is sanitized. Why would you do otherwise?
